Family-owned haulage and warehousing specialists, Farrall’s Group of Chester, has recently taken delivery of their first New Generation MAN TGX tractors and two new MAN TGE 3.5 tonne vans.
The new TGX tractors, both 26.470 6x2’s with mid-lift axles and GM cabs, are eye-catchers in their striking Farrall’s Group Livery, black bumpers, step panels and light surrounds, phasing into red and white as you move up the cab. The two TGE 3.140 chassis cabs, both bodied with curtainsider bodies, are equally striking in the distinctive Farrall’s Group livery.
Farrall’s Group has been buying MAN trucks for 3 years and is a big fan of the German brand. The first MAN, a TGX 26.500 XXL, joined the fleet in 2018 and founder Eddie Farrall, who started the business with his wife Joan in 1956, considers the New Generation TGX to be by far the best looking truck on the road.
“When purchasing a MAN you know exactly what you’re getting, they are robust, efficient and reliable,” says Matthew Farrall, Managing Director Farrall's Group and founder Eddie Farrall’s grandson. “With MAN you also get a partnership with the dealer network, in our case AN Richards of Froncysyllte, who totally understand our business, our needs and offer us a 360 degree level of wrap-around care.”
Supplied by MAN Truck & Bus UK Ltd.’s Direct Sales function and PDI’d and prepared by AN Richards, the latest 6x2 tractor units join Farrall’s Group’s fleet of 70 vehicles. Both TGX’s feature the spacious GM cab and are powered by the latest generation Euro 6D MAN D26 12.4 litre engines, producing 2.400 Nm of torque. Throughout their working days the new TGX’s will be involved in general transport operating nationwide collecting and delivering customer goods.
The two new MAN TGE’s are both 140 hp 3640 mm wheelbase chassis cab variants. Upon arrival in to the UK they were sent to Truck Craft Bodies of Duckinfield, Greater Manchester, and bodied with 13 foot curtainsider bodies, both feature flush-fitting column mounted 60/40 tail lifts (60% tail lift, 40% up and over rear door) and an Aero Dome above the cab. These vehicles will be used for Palletforce Operations delivering and collecting throughout the CH and LL postcodes, helping with access to B2C deliveries and town centre locations.
Operating out of both the company’s main depot in Chester and their 80,000 sq. ft. Deeside warehousing facility, both the new TGX’s and TGE’s have proved an instant hit with the drivers. “We like to give our drivers a comfortable, safe and pleasant working environment,” said Matthew. “The new generation MAN trucks have improved immeasurably and we hear many positive comments from other operators within the industry.”
Ensuring driver comfort the new TGX’s have been fitted with fridges, upgraded radios and satellite navigation. The TGE’s come equipped with the MAN Media Van Business infotainment systems including satellite navigation, 8 inch TFT colour displays and touchscreens, they have also been specified with air conditioning, cruise control and MAN TGE’s overhead storage system.
“We’ve heard great things about the new generation TGX in terms of efficiency and fuel consumption, so were very much looking forward to seeing how they perform and early indications are very positive indeed. These new vehicles will help the company meet an increased demand for deliveries and ensure we continue to meet and deliver upon our customer expectations.” concluded Matthew.
All MAN vehicles are supported by MAN Truck & Bus UK's Nationwide Commercial Vehicle Dealer network, with many operating extended hours, including round-the-clock servicing and customer tailored solution maintenance.
The entire MAN range benefits from MAN's Mobile24 24-hour assistance service, which guarantees customers a professional roadside partner throughout Europe 365 days of the year.
